Vision is the ability to think about or plan the future with imagination or wisdom. Can you look beyond the current state of your reality and picture where your life could be? When your perspective is focused and you live a lifestyle filled with purpose, you fulfill your destiny which produces success. Without a clear vision, little to no progress can be made.
You may wonder how do you discover God’s vision for your life? It’s simple: Jeremiah 33:3 tells us to call unto the Lord then He will show you things that you do not know. I believe the time has come to stop allowing what God has placed in us to be imprisoned within ourselves and actually bring it to fruition using these keys:
Key #1: Write the vision
The Bible declares, “Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.” Fulfilling this instruction that's commanded in Habakkuk 2:2 shifts you from dreaming about it to visualizing the big picture in real life. Writing down the ideas that have been planted in you brings clarity. It also gives structure of an outline to keep in front of you while planning and working on your intended goals to achieve the ultimate objective.
Tip: Examples of places to write your vision include a specifically designated notebook/journal, sticky notes then paste them on a wall or mirror, Google docs or Microsoft Word, and the notes app in your phone.
Don't be afraid of your ideas succeeding. Write the vision and start planning now. The resources will come later.
Key #2: Build your faith
God's word has called us to live by faith. As you assess the steps needed to achieve your vision, it may get weary along the way. Use the following suggestions to encourage yourself when the temptation to give up arises.
Write down scriptures pertaining to your vision and reflect on them throughout the process.
Read books or posts relative to your goals.
Listen to faith-filled sermons or podcasts.
Look for inspiration on Pinterest or Etsy. (seeing examples of what you are striving to achieve can increase motivation and bring clarity)
Worship
Connect with like-minded people who share the same goals or have already attained them.
Implementing these practices will build your faith and keep you motivated to actualize your heart's desires.
Connect your faith to your vision.
Scripture references:
“Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” -Colossians 2:7
“And He said to them, "Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.” -Matthew 17:20
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” -Galatians 6:9
Key #3: Stay focused
It's difficult to hear from God when dealing with so many distractions. Sometimes it's necessary to distance yourself in order to receive from Him and get to where He is trying to take you. The more you invest in focusing on your vision, the closer you get to bringing it to life. Be vigilant while standing firm so that you won't miss the next season.
Put yourself in a position to hear from God. His presence is the place where He reveals Himself.
Scripture references:
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.” -Hebrews 12:1-2
“Whoever has ears, let them hear.” -Matthew 11:15
“Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.” -Proverbs 4:25
“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” -Proverbs 16:3
Key #4: Pray for favor
God's favor has the divine ability to open doors that seem impossible. NOTHING outweighs His power. Begin to pray for favor so that you may be successful in all the things you've been called you to do.
Lord,
Thank You for the vision You've placed inside of me. The plans belong to me, but my desire is for You to establish the work of my hands which will cause my life to prosper. May Your favor rest on me and surround me like a shield. There is no power greater than You! Release your favor, Lord, and let it rain throughout the pursuit of accomplishing my vision. Increase my faith and give me an open heart to receive all the blessings that You have prepared for me. I declare Your favor will announce me this year as You bring my gifts into the open. All the glory belongs to You in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Supplemental declarations:
I am blessed and highly favored!
Favor from high and unexpected places will locate me!
Like Joseph, I will experience preferential treatment that will move my life forward!
I declare favor will attract divine helpers to connect with my vision!
The favor of God will break barriers in situations I can not find a solution!
Through grace, I am increased in favor with God and man.
Scripture references:
“May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands.” -Psalm 90:17
“Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.” -Psalm 5:12
“And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” -Luke 2:52
“Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man.” -Proverbs 3:3-4
Key #5: Gather your resources
When God gives the vision, He will also supply the provision. The Lord is our shepherd; therefore we lack nothing. What we need has already been made available. Resources can come in the form of money, a book or interactive course created by someone with previous experience that's relative to your vision, marketing strategies, form templates, networking with people in high places, or vendor lists for retailing products to name a few.
As you obtain the necessary tools, posture yourself to allow your favor to overflow on others. Giving is an opportunity to meet the needs of those less fortunate and blaze a trail that can inspire others to pursue their vision too. There's room for everyone to win.
Scripture references:
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” -Psalm 23:1
“For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you.” -2 Corinthians 9:10
“And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” -Philippians 4:19
Key #6: Go forth & be great
This is the time to go after what God has placed in your heart. It's not enough to just write your vision. It must be executed with steadfast commitment. Faith without works is dead. What can you do to unlock the power of God’s vision for your life?
Written with grace,
Kiala
Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior?
If not, say this prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, Come into my life. I accept You as my Lord and personal Savior. I believe in my heart that You died and rose from the dead to save me. Thank You, Lord, for saving me in Jesus' name. Amen.
If you prayed this prayer, then congratulations! All of your sins are now forgiven and you have been born again. Heaven is rejoicing!
