God’s Purpose, My Passion

God created us for our own specific purpose. He has already orchestrated our lives as it is written in Jeremiah 29:11. Although there may be some uncertainty determining what it is exactly, the answer is closer than you think. In your purpose is where your passion should lie. The burning desires implanted within are not random. They are vital and necessary to fulfill your calling. Once accepted, that’s when you can begin to go forth in walking out your purpose through your passion.
Your passion is what drives you.
One of my purposes has become my greatest passion which is serving others. Identifying my passion was easy to recognize because I’ve always had a heart to help people. My mother also instilled the importance of giving back. It's a blessing to be a blessing to someone else.
There are three areas I primarily serve in: at work, in ministry, and in the community. Essentially, I perform general office duties in support of my coworkers. I hold three titles which grant me special privileges to give them access to systems that assist them to do their jobs as well as troubleshoot when issues arise. In ministry, I have a behind the scenes role serving in media. The saints see my work, but don’t know it was done by me, which is how I like it. I don't care about the accolades, getting paid, or building a portfolio because it’s not about me personally. I’m just the vessel. My main intention is to reach as many people through the content that is shared rather than be seen. On the other hand, people can sometimes get so caught up in ministry for the wrong reasons: trying to connect with gospel celebrities and influencers for selfish gain, swindle people out of their money, or create a flashy lifestyle that depicts a false narrative of prosperity without the capacity to maintain it. I never want to be one of those people. Every day I make the conscious decision to keep my heart and motives pure.
Nothing is worth compromising your assignment or destroying your spiritual leader's trust. The anointing has a cost and so does betrayal. Choose wisely.
Jesus dedicated His life to leading, serving, healing, and showing love. We can follow in His example because of His character. Nothing was beneath Him by virtue of His humility. Philippians 2:3-4 says, "Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility consider one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others." Christ Himself modeled this behavior by feeding the hungry as demonstrated in Matthew 14.
Since we are to do works like Jesus, I also look for ways to serve others outside of work and ministry. The needs in our community are endless. We live in times where struggles are plentiful and people don't know how they're going to make it. They are hungry, broke, lacking basic essentials, and are being displaced due to their lack of resources. However, help is available from charitable organizations funded by generous donations. I know firsthand because I've personally donated clothes, money, school supplies, food and purchased items from Amazon wish lists I’ve come across (usually on Facebook), plus more. I've devoted my time to give back too. When I was a student at FAU, I volunteered with an organization on campus. One of my favorite service projects was when we packaged 10,000 meals for Stop Hunger Now (presently known as Rise Against Hunger.) It was an amazing event aiming to nourish lives, and I'm looking forward to contributing to more outreach efforts. Serving gives me so much fulfillment knowing that I’m doing what I’m called to do and it makes a positive impact.
The Lord has equipped us to exercise our purpose.
There's more to being a born again Christian than just receiving salvation. Using our gifts and talents are essential to building the Kingdom. Our passion should not just remain housed within ourselves, but should also be practiced in real life. “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” -Ephesians 2:10. Do you know who you have been called to reach and how you can make an impact? Whatever your passion is, you can use it for God’s purpose ultimately bringing Him glory.
Written with grace,
Kiala
Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior? If not, say this prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus,
Come into my life. I accept You as my Lord and personal Savior. I believe in my heart that You died and rose from the dead to save me. Thank You, Lord, for saving me in Jesus' name. Amen.
If you prayed this prayer, then congratulations! All of your sins are now forgiven and you have been born again. Heaven is rejoicing!
