How I Thrived in 2025

I crossed over into 2025 with the intention of improving the quality of my life after experiencing a transition right before the year began. So much had changed which made me wonder what to do next. With it being my last year in my 20s, I had high hopes that it would be memorable and enjoyable. Let's explore how I thrived in 2025!

My theme was breakthrough/getting unstuck with Micah 2:13 as my base scripture. I felt like there was a missing link as to why I'm not where I think I should be (and making the money I deserve) and sensed I would receive/be connected to it which would cause an emergence. Like previous years, I didn't have any new goals. Realignment shifted me back to my core foundation where I revisited things I wanted to do but didn't quite achieve. I appreciate the shift because I was able to focus on my desires. My top focuses were to make more money, get a new car, and advance in my career (including my business and blog).

We are living in uncertain times. People are facing hardships at an alarming rate. One of the trending topics was that over 300,000 black women were unemployed. I didn't want to be in that number. So, my top goal was to maintain career stability while having a healthy work/life balance. I used to be so busy that I became overwhelmed and exhausted and could barely function. After much reflection, I knew some changes had to be made. I made a declaration that I don't ever want to go back to being as stressed and burned out as I was. That is not the life for me.

Necessary changes I made to my lifestyle:

  • I adjusted my schedule to accommodate more sleep.

  • I stopped working for free.

  • I distanced myself from matters that didn't concern me.

  • I actively pursued my endeavors rather than putting them to the side.

Making those adjustments gave me the capacity to also go out more. I was OUTSIDE lol. I posted in January about wanting to go out more and I'm proud of myself for actually doing it. I worked in three different industries, but also had fun while hanging out. My full recap is down below.

I returned as an Accreditation Assistant with the Jacksonville Jaguars for my second season. The season kicked off with a lot of skepticism due to hiring a new front office staff. Those doubts were silenced after the team improved to have a winning record and clinched a spot in the playoffs. The team finished 13-4.

Another one of my goals was to upgrade my blog. I refreshed my site with new headshots and added a page with affiliate links. The pictures showcase my growth as I mature and the affiliate links I shared consist of products I believe would be beneficial to your life.

In 2024, I launched my business, KP Executive Assist, to provide administrative services to certain industries. I realized I was no longer interested in those industries so I niched my clientele down to high-profile individuals including professional athletes (NBA & NFL), influencers/content creators, CEOs and public figures. This felt more aligned with my desired career path and interests. My goals were to book and retain at least two clients, hit my revenue goal, and add new services. I submitted several pitches and applications to no avail. Despite not getting booked, I reframed my mindset to view those submissions as seeds planted. The prospective clients may not have booked with me then, but they have my contact information if they want to revisit at a later time or send a referral. My revenue goal was $10,000 and I didn't even remotely reach that. The income generated came from merchandise and a freelance opportunity. I purchased a guide in January that introduced me to working in experiential marketing. It taught how to become a brand ambassador, build a resumé, and book gigs. I booked four gigs in various places with big name brands. The duties varied at each event which allowed me to gain more hands-on experience in event operations. No task was too small. It was a lot of fun working, traveling, and meeting new people. Being a brand ambassador introduced me to an industry that enhances my skill set by creating memorable experiences for consumers through marketing campaigns by spreading brand awareness and creating a connection to engage with the brand.

Moves I made in my business in 2025:

  • Featured in Black Woman, Yellow Pages directory

  • Updated portfolio with higher rates and new services

  • Created an account on Upwork, Task Rabbit, and Shop Latte

  • Designed new business cards

  • Renewed my notary commission

  • Created Google My Business listing

  • Refreshed my Instagram account

  • Released eight products in my merch store

  • Attended events virtually and in person

Overall, I think I made a lot of moves and great strides that contributed to my business’s progress. I’m eager to continue networking and seeking new opportunities.

Moments that defined 2025:

  • Celebrated my birthday in Cancun

  • Traveled to North Carolina to meet my nephew and great-niece where we celebrated her 1st birthday

  • The Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl

  • Tried various skincare products (one of my hobbies)

  • Attended Hulvey’s concert

  • Applied for jobs

  • Attended the Orange and Blue game at The Swamp #GoGators

  • My autistic uncle said my name three times on his own

  • Competed in the First Coast Games

  • Attended Forrest Frank's concert

  • Took a weekend trip to Orlando

  • Watched a Jacksonville Sharks game

  • Served at Brian Thomas Jr. & Travis Etienne Jr.’s football camp

  • Went to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

  • Attended a Pilates class (I was sore for four days LOL)

  • Attended Sportsimist Summit in Atlanta

  • Supported The Great Diaper Dash

  • Updated my headshots

  • Hung out with my bestie

  • Featured in a media publication

  • Read two devotionals

  • Became a brand ambassador and worked four events

  • Signed up for several affiliate programs

  • Created accounts for my next career moves

2025 was an overall great year for me. Embracing a newfound freedom gave me the capacity to spend more time with my loved ones, attend several events, and evolve in my career. I did almost everything I set out to do and I celebrate that! I went through some tough times in the latter half of the year, but God's grace carried me and the Victory Decrees devotional equipped me. The warfare didn't intimidate me because it was a familiar place; therefore, I was already prepared to conquer. Been there, won that. Now I’m moving forward with greater clarity and motivation as I enter into a new era. Everything that transpired in 2025 set the tone for 2026. Preparation has paved the way for a prosperous year!

Thank you for being a part of my journey!

Written with grace,

Kiala

Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior? If not, say this prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus,

Come into my life. I accept You as my Lord and personal Savior. I believe in my heart that You died and rose from the dead to save me. Thank You, Lord, for saving me in Jesus' name. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer, then congratulations! All of your sins are now forgiven and you have been born again. Heaven is rejoicing!
