Get Up and Get Moving

The sound of my alarm filled my blacked-out room. This instantly created a sense of dread about getting out of bed. Sleeping was so much more appealing than drawing strength to go about a mundane day.

Have you ever been through a daunting season that left you feeling overwhelmed and unproductive? It's essential to pick yourself up and move forward with God's strength when faced with opposition. “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” -Isaiah 40:31. Follow these four tips, and prayerfully you'll be pushed into action.

Tips for Achieving a Healthy and Balanced Lifestyle:

Wellness matters; make it a priority.

Maintaining all areas of my health has become my number one priority. I've gone through several major things over the past couple of years that affected me mentally, emotionally, and ultimately physically. I had to scale back and assess the sources of my setback. As a result, I'm more selective about what I invest my energy into and retreat when things get to be a bit much.

Every year I make sure to do my annual wellness check with my primary care doctor and biannual cleanings with my dentist. My doctor assesses my overall health and addresses my concerns of symptoms that arise from a decline in my well-being. I also get my blood work done to check my levels and discover any potential internal issues. For example, I was experiencing extreme fatigue and low energy. My blood was tested and it showed that my vitamin D was very low. I then took some pills prescribed by my doctor and it shot back up. Pay attention to the warning signs when something feels off. An underlying condition may exist. Also, this is your reminder to use your benefits! Don't let them go to waste. Your body is a temple. Treat it as such.

“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” -3 John 1:2

Move those muscles.

Another level of creativity is unlocked every time I work out. There is something about exercising that brings relief and stimulates my mind. I don't have the capacity to go to the gym so I use YouTube. My personal favorite is 22 Days to Get in Shape. It's not too complex and is a great video to get moving.

Do things in increments.

As a multifaceted person, sometimes it feels like there aren't enough hours in the day to do everything I want and need to. To help sort through my countless tasks, I set my intentions for the upcoming week on Saturdays. Some days have specific plans whereas other tasks are done sporadically. At the end of the day, I commend myself for what I had the strength to do, and whatever didn't get completed is moved to another date. More grace, less pressure.

“Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty.” -Proverbs 21:5

Small steps are still progress. Keep going.

Celebrate all wins.

I'm a firm believer in treating myself. Whether it's a special occasion or my productivity was high on a particular day, I will gift myself something as a reward. Every win deserves to be celebrated.

Setbacks happen, but don't give up on your heart's desires. They can still come to pass. Regroup, lock in, then put in the work! Depression can't win! Imposter syndrome can't win! Grief can't win! Don't let incomplete tasks or unaccomplished goals stall your progress. You owe it to yourself to enjoy a successful life. May you receive a fresh wind of motivation to get up and get moving. Revival is HERE.

Written with grace,

Kiala

Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior? If not, say this prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus,

Come into my life. I accept You as my Lord and personal Savior. I believe in my heart that You died and rose from the dead to save me. Thank You, Lord, for saving me in Jesus' name. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer, then congratulations! All of your sins are now forgiven and you have been born again. Heaven is rejoicing!
