Steward the Present and Build for the Future

Coming into the month of May, I sensed a subtle transition taking place. Although I couldn’t pinpoint what was happening exactly, I knew it was important for me to slow down by not being consumed with the busyness of my calendar so that I could be more present at home and have the capacity to receive a download of instructions I sought the Lord for.

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.” -Psalm 32:8

With my goals in mind for this year, it has been essential for me to maintain my focus. This required me to step back and reevaluate my task lists, priorities, and heart’s desires. During this time, I prayed that God would reveal to me what my specific assignment is and remove anything that I had taken on or engaged in but shouldn’t have. Capacity and capability do not equal obligation. Some opportunities are distractions.

For over a year now, people have been pressing me about dating and getting married. I guess that comes with the territory of being in my late 20s without kids, but it’s annoying quite frankly because I have no desire for that at this time. I realized towards the end of 2022 that dating would be a distraction for me considering the season I’m in.

Dating is something that I don’t casually participate in. Who you get involved with romantically is a serious decision and shouldn’t be taken lightly. The consequences of being with the wrong person can result in trauma, petty drama, or even death. Entertaining someone just for attention or companionship is not worth it. Destiny is at stake.

Sometimes people find it hard to believe that you can be completely single without dating or entertaining someone but it’s very possible especially when you refuse to settle. I recall an encounter I had on September 1, 2021 where the Lord gave me three points as to how I would know a guy was THE ONE. It’s crazy how I still kicked it with some guys knowing good and well they didn’t align with what God said and quickly realized why I shouldn’t have even bothered. Once I became serious about maintaining my focus and guarding my heart, it made it easier to fully surrender my dating life to God. The peace I have now from submitting that care to God suppresses the peer pressure that tries to dictate my dating life. “So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.” -2 Timothy 2:22

Based on my goals for 2023, this is a season for me to build in multiple areas. I am building my career, striving to carry out my blog goals, and investing in my business. I made four years at my job and have been exploring what's next. Eventually, I would like to go into sports management. Blogging is coming along. I've noticed an increase in views so that is progress. I wrote down my heart’s desires for my business and potential growth opportunities. As I drafted some ideas, my initial vision for my business model broadened and I'm looking to add the following to my team.

  • Graphic designer

  • Media strategist/content creator

  • Equipment Original Manufacturer (production for physical products) in Jacksonville, FL

    • Book publisher

    • Jewelry

  • Copywriter

If you know any business owners in these fields, then feel free to refer them my way. I'd love to connect!

There are many seasons that we go through in life. The key is to recognize what season you're in and navigate it using God's word without being swayed by comparison or unwise opinions. Remember these four things as you steward the present and build for the future:

  1. Seek the kingdom first.

  2. Don't compare or envy anyone’s journey. You never know what goes on behind closed doors.

  3. Stay focused.

  4. Don't let peer pressure control you.

Whether you’re in the wilderness, being pruned for the next level, or waiting for what’s next to come, know that God does not waste a season. Each one is designed for a specific purpose at an appointed time. “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:” -Ecclesiastes 3:1

Written with grace,

Kiala

Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior? If not, say this prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus,

Come into my life. I accept You as my Lord and personal Savior. I believe in my heart that You died and rose from the dead to save me. Thank You, Lord, for saving me in Jesus' name. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer, then congratulations! All of your sins are now forgiven and you have been born again. Heaven is rejoicing!
